How to Set Up Pickups and Transfers in Resmark

Does your business offer transportation services, such as shuttles from hotels to your products or activities? If so, you can use the Pickups and Transfers feature to manage your transportation services.

This article covers both basic and advanced configurations. If your business is a smaller operation, the basic setup should be all you need. If you operate in multiple cities or manage a large number of pickup locations, follow the advanced configuration instead.

With Pickups and Transfers, you can manage individual transfer locations, set optional transfer costs and transfer times, and assign transfers to specific products.

Basic Configuration

If your business operates in one city, offers its own pickups, and services products in one general area, the basic configuration is all you need.Basic configuration overviewTransfer Locations -- Set up pickup and drop-off locations for your transfer services.Transfer Details -- Configure transfer times and optional pricing for individual transfers.Product Settings -- Manage transfer settings for individual products.Display Settings (Optional) -- Create custom labels.

Advanced Configuration

Does your business do any of the following?Offer products that are spread across a large area (such as multiple cities or opposite ends of an island)Work with one or more third-party pickup or transfer servicesService a large area and want to divide pickup locations into zonesIf so, follow the advanced configuration. Set things up in this order:Advanced configuration overviewTransfer Zones -- Group nearby transfer locations into zones (for example, all hotels in the same neighborhood).Transfer Providers -- Manage third-party transportation companies that provide services for your business.Product Zones -- Define the area or region where each product takes place (for example, "The North Shore").Transfer Locations -- Set up pickup and drop-off locations for your transfer services.Transfer Details -- Configure transfer times and optional pricing for individual transfers.Product Settings -- Manage transfer settings for individual products.Display Settings (Optional) -- Create custom labels.Import Transfer Zones and Locations (Optional) -- Import settings from another Resmark business entity.

Transfer Zones (Advanced Settings)

If following the advanced configuration, Transfer Zones is the first step. If following the basic configuration, skip to Transfer Locations.

A transfer zone is a region where you have multiple pickup locations such as hotels or landmarks. This could be a city name or a specific area within a city. You can also add a description for additional context. In this step you are simply defining your zones. You will select them later when setting up transfer locations and transfer details.

If you are not differentiating cost or time between pickup regions, you do not need more than one pickup zone.

Here is an example of multiple transfer zones covering a large area. This business offers products in northern and southern Utah, so the zones were named to reflect those differences for easier management at a glance.

Transfer Providers (Advanced Settings)

If following the advanced configuration, Transfer Providers is the second step. If following the basic configuration, skip to Transfer Locations.

If your business hires third-party transportation services to shuttle customers from a pickup location to your products, you can add those companies as transfer providers. If you handle all transportation yourself, the default provider (your own company) is all you need. In this step you are simply defining providers. You will assign them in the Transfer Details step.

In the example below, this business has a third-party service called "Jason's Van Rides" alongside their own company, "Over The Top - Zipline Tours."

Product Zones (Advanced Settings)

If following the advanced configuration, Product Zones is the third step. If following the basic configuration, skip to Transfer Locations.

If you offer products spread across a large area (such as a city, state, or island), you can define those areas as product zones. For example, if your products span an island, you might create zones like "North Shore" and "South Shore." In this step you are simply defining the zones. You will assign them in the Transfer Details step.

In the example below, this business offers products in Salt Lake City and Washington County, so they created two product zones to reflect those areas.

Transfer Locations

Step four of the advanced configuration. Step one of the basic configuration.

Transfer locations are the places your customers can be picked up from, such as hotels, landmarks, or other designated areas.

Transfer locations form

Transfer Zone

If you followed the basic configuration, you will only have one option here. If you followed the advanced configuration, all of the transfer zones you created will be available. Select the appropriate zone for the location you are adding.

Location Name

The name of the pickup location, such as a hotel or landmark.

Meeting Instructions

Instructions to help your customers know what to expect or where to meet (for example, "hotel lobby").

+Add Address

Adding an address is optional but recommended to avoid confusion.

Once you have filled in the relevant information, save your transfer location.

In the example below, this business used the advanced features to create a wider variety of transfer zones for their pickup locations.

Transfer Details

Step five of the advanced configuration. Step two of the basic configuration.

Transfer Details is where you define transfer times, costs, and other core settings. This is the heart of your pickup and transfer configuration.

Transfer details form

Transfer Provider

If you followed the basic configuration, your own company will be the only option. If you followed the advanced configuration, all transfer providers you created will be available.

Transfer Zone

If using the basic configuration, you will have one option. If using the advanced configuration, you can select any of the transfer zones you created.

Product Zone

If using the basic configuration, you will have one option. If using the advanced configuration, select the appropriate product zone for this transfer detail.

Transfer Cost

Determines whether this is a complimentary transfer or whether and how much you charge your customers.

  • Complimentary -- No cost is associated with this transfer. Customers simply meet at the designated time and place.
  • Apply a Single Cost To All Price Tiers -- A flat fee for transportation (one way or round trip), regardless of the product price tier.
  • Apply Specific Cost To Each Price Tier -- If the cost varies by price tier (adult, child, senior, etc.), select the tier from the list and enter the amount. Use +Add Tier Amount to add more tiers.

Taxable

If taxes should be applied to this pickup at checkout, select the appropriate tax. You can add new taxes from Settings > Taxes.

Default Transfer Time To Product

The number of minutes before the product start time that customers need to be ready for pickup. For example, if pickup is at 6:30 AM and the product starts at 7:00 AM, enter 30 minutes. If the time varies by location within the zone, you can override this default in the Time Settings at the bottom of the page.

Default Transfer Time From Product

The number of minutes after the product end time it takes to return customers to the original pickup zone. As with the pickup time, you can set location-specific overrides in Time Settings.

Time Settings

Select one of the following options:

  • Use the default transfer time for all locations -- Save your changes and move on to Product Settings.
  • Set individual transfer times for each location -- The locations available in this list are determined by the transfer zone you selected and were assigned when setting up your transfer locations. Set the preferred transfer time to and from the product for each location.

Once everything is configured, select Save.

Product Settings

Step six of the advanced configuration. Step three of the basic configuration.

Product Settings is where you assign your pickup and transfer settings to individual products. The options available depend on the settings you previously defined. In the example below, some selections will enable or disable additional dropdown menus.

Product settings configuration

Product

A list of all products your business has created.

Transfer Settings

Choose whether the transfer is optional, required, or not offered for each product. If you ever need to enable or disable transfers for a product, this is where you make the change.

Product Zone

Any product zones assigned to a transfer detail will appear here. If you followed the basic configuration, you will see one option. If you followed the advanced configuration and created additional product zones, they will appear here as well (as long as they are assigned to a transfer detail).

Transfer Provider

If you followed the basic configuration, your business will be the only provider listed. If you followed the advanced configuration, any transfer providers tied to a transfer detail will appear here. For example, in the GIF above, selecting the product zone "Salt Lake City" offers a choice between "Jason's Van Rides" and "Over The Top - Zipline Tours," while selecting "Washington County" only shows one provider. This is because the transfer details for Washington County only include one transfer provider.

Direction

Whether this is a round trip or one-way transfer.
