# How do I set up custom search filters for my products?

Custom search filters let you organize your products by categories like season, difficulty, or trip type. Once set up, these filters appear as options when placing internal orders, making it faster to find the right product.

### Creating Search Categories

Search Categories are the top-level filter groups. To create one:

1. Navigate to **Settings > Custom Search Filters**.
2. Click **New Search Category**.
3. Enter a name for your category.

Common examples include "Season" and "Difficulty."

### Adding Tags

Tags are the individual options within a Search Category. If your category is "Season," your tags might be "Spring," "Summer," "Fall," and "Winter."

1. Open the Search Category you want to add tags to.
2. Create a new tag and give it a name.
3. Select all products that apply to that tag.

Once configured, these tags appear as filter options when placing internal orders.

### Making Filters Public

If you want your search categories and tags to be accessible through the Resmark API, enable the **Make Public** option on the search category. This is only needed if you are using the API to display filterable product listings externally.
